The mission of the Institut universitaire de France (IUF), created by the decree of August 26, 1991, is to promote the development of high-level research in universities and to strengthen interdisciplinarity.

The selection campaign for new junior and senior IUF members will open on Monday, September 6, 2021 at noon. A total of 164 members (82 seniors and 82 juniors) may be appointed at the beginning of the 2022 academic year, including 20 for innovation and 4 for scientific mediation (134 members in total in 2021).

Following an initiative from the Cercle Gutenberg, the Region Grand Est has decided to fund Gutenberg Chairs to host, for approximately one year, highly-qualified research scientists of high international reputation.

The Grand Est Region is launching a new action: "Recruit your first doctor in a company". This scheme is aimed at companies and allows them to recruit young doctors as part of the development of their business.
