Campus Brabois Santé : un campus vert et biodiversifié
University of Lorraine

Now that the Brabois-Santé Campus, which includes the faculties of pharmacy, dentistry, medicine and a large part of the units of the BMS scientific cluster, is well established in terms of real estate, the outdoor development projects are being carried out over time. With a common goal: to create a green campus!

An educational orchard of local and traditional fruit varieties found in Alsace and Lorraine, in collaboration with the Croqueurs de Pommes association, has been set up in front of the Biopôle. About ten trees were planted on March 2, 2021 and about thirty others will be installed in autumn. A sign indicating the name and characteristics of each variety will be placed at the level of each tree for the information of Campus users. These new plantations will be watered, for the first few years, thanks to a rainwater recovery tank.

Other projects are underway: the installation of beehives and their maintenance by an experienced beekeeper, insect hotels, the planting of lilacs from the Lemoine collection (including cuttings, recovered from the Jean-Marie Pelt botanical garden, which have been in production at the School of Horticulture and Landscape in Roville-aux-Chênes for the past two years).

These projects were supported by the University of Lorraine in the framework of the CVEC (student and campus life contribution) call for ideas.
