SAINBIOSE Laboratory (Santé Ingénierie Biologie Saint-Étienne)

A research internship (4 to 6 months, starting April 2022) is available at the Laboratory of Osteoarticular Tissue Biology, U1059 INSERM - SAINBIOSE - LBTO (SAnté INgéniérie BIOlogie St-Etienne) Campus Santé Innovation, Saint Etienne in collaboration with the Biomaterials Department of the Ecole des Mines Saint Etienne, the INSERM team, U1029 DVH and the Etablissement Français du Sang Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Internship topic :

Knee osteoarthritis is the most frequent joint pathology with a major functional handicap, an increase in mortality and an important economic consequence. The only effective therapy used in current practice is the installation of a prosthesis requiring 3 months of rehabilitation. Pharmacological approaches are not very effective.

After extensive use of visco-supplementation in the knee cavity, which improves functional signs in the short term, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are now widely used. Due to their low benefit, these widely used treatments are not reimbursed by the French Health Insurance.

The research objective is the development of an innovative method of manufacturing a bio-resorbable, injectable and self-healing microgel delivery system and its physicochemical characterization.
