At the end of September 2025, Nancy hosted the first-ever international conference dedicated to ectopic calcification, a rare and still poorly understood phenomenon involving the formation of mineral deposits in non-bone tissues (vessels, organs, ligaments, etc.).

Organized by the International Scientific Society of Ectopic Calcification (ISSEC), founded by Hervé Kempf, a researcher at the IMoPA laboratory, this event brought together specialists from around the world to discuss a medical issue that is as complex as it is little known.
