The UMS2008/US40 IBSLor is proud to be a partner of the ViroMOD project selected for funding in 2021 by the Regional Cooperation Fund for Research (FRCR).
The ViroMOD project brings together scientists with international visibility and diverse backgrounds: RNA biologists (Y. MOTORIN, UMS2008/US40 IBSLor and UMR7365 IMoPA, NANCY), experts in molecular virology and insect genetics (C. MEIGNIN, IBMC, UPR9022, STRASBOURG) and in medical virology (L. ANDREOLETTI, UR4684, REIMS).
This project targets the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of post-transcriptional modification of viral RNA and has an integrative dimension, since it combines the mapping of the epitranscriptome of viral RNAs with genetic and molecular virology approaches.
The ViroMOD project is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of living organisms and virology, and will have a strong impact in public health, since aims better understanding the mechanisms of infection and vector propagation of viruses. Those are responsible for 'a large number of infections and severe cases around the world. The pandemics of RNA (+) viruses such as SARS, MARS and now the SARS-Cov2 coronavirus, show that controlling the spread and viral infection remains a global public health priority.
