At the meeting of the Strategic Council for Health Industries (CSIS) on June 29, 2021, President Emmanuel Macron presented the 2021-2030 health innovation strategy. The objective is to place France at the forefront of European research and sovereignty in the field of health. This strategy will be deployed until 2030 and will benefit from a budget of around 7 billion euros.
The President of the Republic has set three major objectives based on the conclusions of the Strategic Council on Health Industries (CSIS), launched by the Government on February 11, 2021:
- The first challenge concerns biotherapies, such as "messenger RNA" vaccines, synthetic biology or the fight against cancer.
- The second objective is to develop the use of digital health data.
- The third challenge focuses on the fight against infectious diseases.
Seven measures for health innovation include:
- Strengthen our biomedical research capacity;
- Supporting the three sectors of the future of the healthcare industry;
- Make France the leading country in Europe for clinical trials;
- Enable equal access to care for patients and provide an accelerated and simplified market access framework for innovations;
- Provide a predictable economic framework consistent with the objective of health and industrial sovereignty;
- Support the industrialization of healthcare products in France and accompany the growth of companies in the sector;
- To create a structure to drive and strategically manage innovation in health: the Health Innovation Agency.
